Earlier this year as the words #Blacklivesmatter spread around the world, young activists did more than their part to bring awareness to the injustices of police brutality. Yara Shahidi is one of these young activists. As an actress having had roles on Black-ish, her own spin off of Grown-ish, The Sun is also a Star, and more she is clearly multi-faceted. As an activist she has had several conversations with people such as Angela Davis, Michelle, and Barack Obama with the goal of addressing and combating the injustices of our society today. Recently she signed a deal with ABC and is now creating her own production company with her mother and business partner Keri Shahidi. Seeing young women accomplish so much so early shows what women are and have always been capable of!
